    Great picture

I bought this 6 weeks ago. I’m happy with the picture however the sound isn’t great and I’ll need to buy a sound bar. I mainly bought the tv for the smart tv feature however watching catch up Tv through the apps you download don’t work properly The shows won’t load or they stall when an ad break comes on and you can’t see the full screen the ratio in the apps is wrong! So I’m back using a chrome cast after all. Not happy. Even though good price cheaper to buy a normal tv and add a chrome cast.

Good value for the price ☺

Ive had my Polaroid TV for over a year now. Its still running very good and I haven't had any problems with it except for the remote at one stage didn't want to work, I gave it a good shake the next day and it sorted itself out. The picture is quite clear. I'm glad that I didn't go buy a brand name one that has the same features, and does exactly the same thing and waste a few grand.

    Excellent Value for Money

I bought this product about 2 weeks ago on special for $800. So far, it has performed quite well. People need to realise this is an $1100 TV. It's not going to be as good as a $2k+ Samsung or Sony, but it does a pretty darn (really Big W? Dam with an n is profanity?) good job at being a good, cheap and big TV.

The '4K' on this has me a little perplexed. I don't believe it's true 4K, I believe it's upscaled, but I haven't been able to really confirm that. There's probably an answer online about that, but I don't really care enough to find it.

The biggest detriment to the quality of this product is without a doubt the sound. To say it was absolutely awful would be an understatement, HOWEVER Polaroid does throw in a sneaky AUX plug at the back of the TV. This means you can go down to Big W or other stores and pick up a $150 Logitech Z623 system with 2 speakers and a sub and complete your budget home theatre setup. (All on Afterpay if you really want).

If you buy the TV on special like I did, you get a solid budget home theatre with a simple sound system and fantastic bass for less than $1k. I can't really complain about that.

Someone in another review mentioned that their remote was permanently stuck on - my response was that might have been the on-screen mouse was activated. The mouse button near the top left of the remote will activate the on-screen mouse and keyboard which comes on the remote itself. To use this function, you need to plug in the USB that comes packaged with the remote as well. Just be aware of that.

The "smart" function of the TV is... well it isn't the worst I've ever used. It's basically a stripped Android OS with a custom skin on it optimised slightly for a TV. You have to install apps from the Play Store to get the "smart" functionality. Personally, I bought a Chromecast Ultra. It's just so much easier to use my phone to cast stuff to the TV than it is to use the TV itself. I also believe that Netflix doesn't recognise the TV is 4K and won't stream in 4K, so the best you get will be 1080p, and while it's not THAT bad it's certainly noticeable. Chromecast Ultra also comes with an ethernet port (as does the TV) so you can stream high quality, 4K content, providing you have the bandwidth.

Lastly, and finally, the picture. I stood in store and watched the picture for quite some time before deciding it was worth the money. It's not a brilliantly crisp or sharp display, the likes that you get on a $2k+ TV, and you have to expect that. However, motion blur is quite low, refresh rate is decent (so sports don't actually look too bad on it, despite the fact that it's an LED TV), and dark movie aren't 'too dark'. It does black quite well. Just make sure you hit the menu and turn image enhancements off.

One last thing to note, if you have a window behind your couch, this TV's screen is very reflective. It's not particularly glossy, so you can make out reflections. Keep this in mind because during the summer days and evenings it will be a nightmare.

    Objective Rating/5: Picture 4 GUI 3 Sound 1 Features 4 Value 5

    Total 3.4/5

Subjectively, I'd round it up to a 4 for the simple fact that it's insanely good value for money and the things it does poorly are easily fixed for an extra ~$250.

    Great for the price

I haven't had it long but so far so good. Foxtel is working fine through it. only gripe I have is the sound, its average. I had to go to Jaycar for a few cables ect to run it through the surround sound system. Sounds better now. As the guy from Jaycar said... It's because their making tvs with the speakers at the back and the volume vibrates off the wall. Sure makes a difference as my last TV had the speakers facing forward. Anyway, overall not a bad TV.

    Alright but worried about quality...

I paid $1099 for this unit and would say it is borderline worth this. Have seen it on sale for $800 though so I at this price you wont beat it and wouldn't be so worried.

However...Beware, after only 1 month I have a dead pixel and remote control is stuck 'on' all the time so the batteries run flat and you can't control it without using the manual buttons on the TV itself. Tempo (the warranty team) have been OK responding but don't have any spare remotes so I'm getting frustrated after 3 weeks of email tennis. Fearful as to how long the rest of it will last in the long run!

Other info: > Doesn't support Stan (but can download and install but not run) > Sound is pretty bad. Even for general TV but a soundbar can fix this. > 4K i can only get 24hz. No HDR (but cant expect this for the money) > Picture is a little bright/washed out but is alright for the money. Side by side my Bravia beats this hands down so it is up to you what you want it for. Blue Planet in 4k still looks pretty nice though. > Takes about 15-20 seconds to boot up and turn on > The Polaroid codes don't work for programming the Fetch remote and I'm so far unable to get it working with Fetch. > Remote has a full keyboard on the rear which is really neat.

Overall I'm worried about the quality but if you can get it at a cheap price then you probably will be quite happy with it.

    AVOID!!!

Had the TV 2 months with nothing but trouble! 10 days after purchasing we’ve set it up to find a big flicker in the screen, separation in picture and black lines all the way through with an inch and a half space. Big w wouldn’t accept return despite receipt and box and being FAULTY! Told us to take it up with Polaroid. Phoned Polaroid who them sold us to tempo, the warranty company. Sent a guy out who fixed a loom temporarily until a new one was sent. The temp loom fixed the black lines, the new loom arrives, but at another address so they again temporarily fix it because it was the wrong loom! Now the buttons on the side no longer work and the black lines are back again, which I’m then told that it MUST be the screen! Told them that from the beginning. Another phone call to the people who came out the second time to fix it and I’m made out to be the “stupid one” because I can’t get the black lines in a photo. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
